Heartworm Treatment for 8 Dogs

Guardian Angel does not turn dogs away simply because they have heartworms or other expensive medical needs, but we need your financial support to continue helping dogs in need.

Peanut is another of our dogs who is heartworm positive.

Buffy is one of our dogs who has already gotten the first half of her treatment. She needs to go back soon for the next part of the treatment, but we must first have the funds to pay for it.

Due to the nationwide shortage of Immiticide (the only drug approved to treat heartworm infestations), we've had to wait to treat numerous dogs over the past six months. Our vet recently informed us that the medication is now available again, but the bill to treat so many dogs at once is more than we can afford.

Heartworms are fatal to dogs if left untreated. The longer you postpone treatment, the more damage is done to the heart, so it's best for the dogs if we can treat them now.

Postponing treatment also means risking that there will be another drug shortage before we can finish treating them one by one. While we hope that won't happen, the drug manufacturer has already experienced 2 such shortages in the past couple of years.
