Sonny
We have an adorable male Lhasa Apso that we have had in rescue for a couple of years. He came to us from a shelter in Mississippi with heartworms. There was a couple that fell in love with him in the beginning and were going to foster him through treatment. They had him for a couple of weeks and he woke up in the middle of the night screaming in pain. He was taken to Hillcrest Animal Hospital and was diagnosed with herniated disc, but did not think at that point he needed surgery â?? just cage rest.
The couple took him back homeâ?¦and put him in a crate pushed up against a $400.00 comforter on their bed. And of course, a bored, hurt male dog stuck in a crate all day pulled the comforter in the crate and tore it up. The lady called us hysterical over the comforter and he had to leave immediately. He went to a temporary home who would not crate him and within a week, Sonny could not walk at all. He was at Hillcrest about a month before we found a foster who could take him in and help him go to the bathroom and all that the now dire situation entailed. He has been doing so good for the last year! Now, he is always in pain, and he is dragging his back legs. Dr. Ledbury at Hillcrest is doing surgery May 7th and we are in desperate need of donations to cover the surgery. It could not wait until we actually had the money, but we need to take care of the bill immediately. The estimated cost to help Sonny is $2000.00+.
